WOW, last day with OOAK. We
had a great sleep and slept in till 8am and then went and had
breakfast at the hotel, where I proceeded to rip off the dispenser
for the waffle machine! I had waffle batter oozing out all over the
counter, all over me!! Was hysterical! I managed to get help, and
I rescued just enough batter for a large waffle – yay!! Steve got
one too, but he wanted a 2nd waffle, but alas there was no
more batter left…..wonder how that happened? Lol
Chris very kindly
came to our room and did a quick milky-way editing tutorial for us.
We should have enough knowledge now when we get back home to really
make these astro images POP!
We packed up and
gear and the cars at 11am and we made our way to Calgary. We were
following Brad, and the boys (Will, Shaun, Hannes) and us went to
lunch at a sports bar…. Just like Hooters, only much smaller
boobs!! So the boys were very happy and entertained. I went to
the “ladies” only to stumble into the mens which was wide open –
thank god no one was in there – I had to laugh!
From
there we made
our way to our hotel for the night, which is right next door to the
airport – The Hampton Suites. Steve and I were upgraded to a King
Size room – YAY…. Fricken fantastic – can't begin to tell you
how luxurious something ike this feels after camping! I had a good view
of the Calgary Cosentino Stone Factory from our window! lol
So we got a couple
of hours to ourselves and now are getting ready for our last big
“HOORAH” out on the town with the OOAK crew, before we high tail
it out of here very early and back to Valemount to get Steve's lens!
Weather is very wet,
cloudy and down right miserable, and thats the forecast for the next
few days here – the closer we get to Vancouver, the finer and
warmer it will become.
We headed off in 2
cars and made our way to the Canadian Brew House. Some of us had a
few drinks before we even left the hotel! I might have had a half
bottle of Kaluha and an e+shot!! yeah baby – bring on a big night!
So $4 draft beers
saw ALL the boys quickly ordered many beers each. Even Steve who
wasn't going to drink too much, decided “what the heck” and got
into the action too!! YEAH!! I had a few Smirnoff Ice's and we
were all having a great time.
The youngsters all
peaked way too early and were on their way back to the hotel by 9pm!
Will, Shaun, Hannes, Steve, Chris and I continued on – another
round of drinks, or was it two? We laughed so much, sometimes till
we cried – honestly, had the BEST night out. They are the best
bunch of guys and we all get along so well. We said our good-byes in
case we didn't see them at breakfast. Was sad to think we weren't
going to see them again. What a great finale we had to our OOAK
adventure.
Finally it was time
for Chris to leave, so he took me and Steve in his taxi, leaving the
boys to stay longer. It turns out that they went to a stripper bar!!
Glad they had a great time!
Steve and I had a
very early start in the morning & a big day driving to go back to
Valemount to get his 200mm lens, so didn't' want to be too hung-over.
Our king size bed was THE BEST – awesome shower, was a great place
to lay our heads.
