We had an enjoyable
sleep in! Steve was up numerous times during the night and the snow
had been falling. Just about everyone slept in. Poor Sarah grabbed
a few people and went to the Vermillion lakes for Sunrise – which
never happened, but some lovely shots were captured regardless!
After a hearty
breakfast of waffles and maple syrup, we headed into Canmore for some
“real” coffee and some fun at the shops with Tim, Sarah, Clair,
Shaun & Will. Hilarious fun. OMG – Canmore definitely know
the “Aussies are in town! Steve bought me a beanie – a big
slouchy one – now I am one of the girls!
A few of us jumped
in a car and drove up to Swift Lake on top of the mountains that
surround Canmore. In hindsight we should have stayed a lot lower
down to really capture the mountains – its hard to capture them
when you are standing on top of them!
But we stopped in
the middle of a dirt road and took numerous “selfies” in the
snow. Steve had fun using his huge 200mm lens getting some great
shots. Us girls (Sarah, Elise, me & Claire) all had fun jumping
in the air doing silly poses! I haven't laughed so hard in ages.
After that we headed back to the bagel place and today I tried a
peanut butter & banana bagel – OMG – HEAVEN !!! The banana
was exceptionally perfect! YUM….. no good for the diet, but eh –
what diet?
So we headed back to
the hotel where we are doing a “dry run” for camping for tomorrow
night. We have NO room in the vehicles to take stuff, so we have to
store stuff here at the Ramada, and only take our backpacks! OMG –
I am freaking out slightly. There'll be NO selfies on this camping
stint! Lol
Tonight at 3.30pm we
are heading over to Moraine Lake near Lake Louise for sunset. It's
not snowing, although cloudy – we should actually get some really
lovely images, especially with the snow on the mountains! I am
really looking forward to that.
Then we are back at
the hotel for what I hope is a very early dinner (not) and then to
bed, as we have to be up at 3.30am so we can check out of the hotel,
and be back at Moraine Lake for sunrise...then we are all headed up
the Icefields Parkway to Jasper!!! YAY – should be an EPIC trip!
Keep your fingers crossed that I can get the majority of my stuff in
the backpack!! Yeah, who am I kidding?
Its hard to realise
we've only been on the OOAK trip 3 days…..feels like weeks already,
but in a good way. The gang is awesome and we all get along really
well together. Thats half the battle & fun on big group trips –
it makes it so much better if we all get along – and we DO !! YAY
!!
